Takeshi Fukunaga (born September 10, 1982) is a Japanese filmmaker. Though born and raised in Hokkaido, Japan, he studied film at Brooklyn College in New York City, where he continues to live. His first short film, "The Hole In the Sky," received an award from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures, while his other works have been widely screened in forums ranging from the Anthology Film Archives and the National Arts Club to Tokyo Fashion Week. Takeshi partnered with Donari Braxton to co-found the production company "FX-S," which, in 2013, was relaunched as simply "Television." The company's created video content for producers ranging from HBO to Puma, Reebok and Marc Jacobs, and produces both American and multinational feature films.

His first narrative feature film, Out of My Hand (2015), is the second foreign production narrative feature to have ever been shot in Liberia.
