Swakula Sali

Swakula Sali (also known as Swakulasali, Swakulasale and Sali) is an ethnic community[1] found among Hindus in India. They claim descent from the mythological Jivheshwara. Marathi is the primary language spoken by the Swakula Salis, who also speak local dialects. Their primary professions are weaving, designing and dyeing. It was Swakula Salis who first created Narayanpet silk and cotton sarees.There ancestry is Brahmin.salis were supposed to be ancient Brahminic community involved in preaching Bhagavadgita slokas in temples and various Hindu community gatherings before migrating to the various parts of southern subcontinent and taking up weaving.
