In the start of each season, the judges will decides on promoting the contestant to the next round according to the number of lights turned on (votes). After the performances, the contestant will be promoted according to the number of points.

In the first to the fifth season, one of the five judges will turn on the table light if the contestant made an error. The contestant have to stop singing once three lights were turned on. The host will allow the judges to give the contestants feedback and a chance for a wildcard. If the contestant have five lights turned on or three lights or more after 30 seconds, the contestant is eliminated. If the contestant have less than three lights turned on, he or she advances to the next round.

From the sixth season onwards, the rules changed. The contestant have to stop singing once two lights were turned on. If a third light is turned on, he or she is eliminated straight away. If the contestant have less than two lights turned on, he or she advances to the next round.

Point system

The points will be handed over to the production crew after each performance. After the feedback by the judges, the average or the total score will be shown on the screen. Each judge is allowed to give each contestant up to 10 points.

For the first season, the total score was shown, but in the later part of the season, the contestants commonly have the same points such that the decimal points will be shown to determine the ranks. From the second season onwards the judges cannot give the contestants the total score.

Cards

After a PK performance by two individual contestants, the five judges will raise a "card" (vote) to determine who shall promote to the next round. The contestant who gets 3 or more cards will be promoted, whereas the other is considered for disqualification.

From the fifth season, the voting will be represented by lights after consolidation. Also, if there are six judges, both contestants advances to the next round if they both get 3 votes.

PK Trio

In the fifth and seventh seasons, three contestants will PK against each other. After the performances, out of the five judges, either two contestants with two votes, or the contestants with the most number of votes, will promote to the next round. The other contestant(s) is considered for disqualification.

PK Duo

In the fifth season, like the trio PKs, two contestants will PK against each other.
