Stuart Latham
Stuart Latham (born Harry Stuart Latham on 11 July 1912 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, England; died 31 August 1993 in London, England) was an English theatre and film actor, director, and later television producer.[1] He also worked as a studio manager at Alexandra Palace just before World War II.[1]
After an apprenticeship in repertory theatre, including a period at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, he played several small roles in films by Michael Powell.[1] His acting work also included minor parts in such films as The Ghost Train (1941) and Tawny Pipit (1944).
In 1960, he became the first producer of the long-running soap opera, Coronation Street,[2] for episodes 1-60, returning briefly for episodes 332-339.
His wife was Barbara Lott.
