Storoper

Storoper

In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the storoper is a type of monster.

Publication history

The storoper first appeared in the module Assault on the Aerie of the Slave Lords (1981),[1] and later in the Monster Manual II (1983).[2]

The storoper appeared in second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in the Monstrous Manual (1993).[3]

Description

A storoper is a cigar-shaped creature about 5 feet in height and 2 feet in diameter, with 6 tentacles and a gaping maw, and looks like a small statue of a roper - its name is derived from "stone roper", and it is also called a "tar roper". The storoper attacks by suddenly lashing out with its tentacles, injecting victims with its venom through the tentacles. The venom immobilizes victims temporarily, making them appear as if they have turned to stone, but they quickly recover and have been drugged so that they will fight to aid the storoper until the venom wears off.
