Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is a mobile game developed by Capital Games and published by Electronic Arts.[1][2] The game received a soft launch in Australia during October 2015, and was formally released on November 24, 2015.[3][4][5] Galaxy of Heroes was announced at the 2015 E3 Expo, where it was announced as a collectible card game RPG.[6][7]

Gameplay for Galaxy of Heroes allows players to collect characters from the Star Wars universe, create teams with them, and use them to fight battles. There are multiple ways to collect characters: some are given to players immediately, whereas others are gained via game play or as in-game rewards. The in-game rewards are shards that are earned by players to either unlock, or promote their characters. Shards can either be earned from battles or bought from a shop. The shard amount needed for the character to be unlocked will also correspond to their starting star level. Characters have a max of seven stars making them the most powerful they can be. There are also training droids to level up characters with each having different XP amounts. Gear, mods, and ability parts can all upgrade your character. The maximum level cap in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes is 85, which was changed from the previous level cap of 80 (previously 70). The maximum gear level has not yet been determined, for the gear required to reach higher levels is not available in many places. The characters in the game can be acquired in the rank of 1-Star, 2-Star, 3-Star, 4-Star, and 5-star. The only heroes in the game that can be acquired at a 5-Star rank are Han Solo (not to be confused with Stormtrooper Han), Grand Master Yoda, Emperor Palpatine (Not to be confused with Darth Sidious) and General Kenobi (not to be confused with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Old Ben)) [8]

Game play

Game play is divided up into rounds, with the character with the highest speed attribute going first. Each team consists of five different hologram avatars which battle until defeated or retreated. Battle is turn based, again based on the speed attribute, where the combatants apply various buffs to their own team and damage to the opponent all the while trying to deal the most overall damage and have the last character alive.

Modes

There are various modes for players to engage in, including squad arena (player vs. player based), dark and light side battles, cantina, galactic wars, raids, and various special events. All modes are played versus the computer controlled AI, even in the player vs. player settings. There are no real-time battles.

Raids

Raids were a feature added to the game with the introduction of the Rancor. Guilds send in teams of five hologram avatars at a time to do battle, with damage adding to a cumulative whole. The battle features four different stages, and once the last and final stage is completed, the participating members receive the rewards.

Ships

The addition of ships was added on November 22nd, 2016. This feature allows players to control various spaceships through their captains and pilots. The vehicles are controlled and played similarly to the main game with your characters, with the exception of a captain's ship which joins in the fight every few turns. Darth Vader's Imperial TIE Fighter Advanced became available eight days later if a player ranked high enough in the first ever ship squad tournament, with shards to unlock the ship being rewarded to the highest ranked fighters.

23 different ships were available at the launch of the new feature. Ships are enhanced, or leveled up, by way of a new special currency. Other special ship materials are acquired through various tasks and quests to level up unique features and upgrades. Ships themselves are leveled up through blueprints, with seven stars being the maximum amount a ship can be promoted.
