Star Awards 2015 (also SA2015, Chinese: 红星大奖2015) is a double television award ceremony which is held in Singapore. It is part of the annual Star Awards organised by MediaCorp for free-to-air channel MediaCorp Channel 8. SA2015 is broadcast live on Channel 8, on 19 April 2015 and 26 April 2015.[1][2][3]
As with the previous five years, viewers will be able to catch the presentation of the Professional awards (given out to backstage crew and scriptwriters) on Channel 8. The ceremony was aired live on 19 April, while the annual SA prize presentation (for performance based and popularity awards) will be aired on 26 April. A post-show will be held after the awards ceremony on 26 April, which was broadcast on Channel 8 at 10.30 pm. This will be the last SA ceremony to be held in Caldecott Hill before its shift to its new campus in Mediapolis@one-north.

Background
Caldecott Hill. Where local entertainment took shape from its modest beginnings. Where talents are nurtured. Stars are born. Achievements forged. And history made. Where the best are recognised and celebrated in the most earnest yet honorable fashion. This is where it all began. And this is where we will celebrate. The best in local television.
This year, we celebrate the glory of Star Awards in its 21st year at Caldecott Hill. Show 1 & 2 will be held at the premise of MediaCorp. It will be the last time Star Awards is held at the iconic hill, which nurtured household celebrity names, before the shift to the new campus.
Show 1 will be telecast live from the MediaCorp TV Theatre on 19 April 2015, Sunday at 7 pm. For the first time, audience will be led into the world of silent soldiers behind drama and variety productions. It will be presented by artistes who spent hours with the working crew. Show 1 also crowns the winners of Favourite Male Character, Favourite Female Character, Favourite Onscreen Couple, and the Regional Most Popular MediaCorp Artiste awards for 4 territories (Indonesia, China, Malaysia and Cambodia). Results of these awards will be purely based on online voting.
The Walk of Fame, Show 2 and the Post-show Party will be held at MediaCorp and telecast live from Channel 8 on 26 April 2015, Sunday from 5 pm onwards. Viewers will be treated to a visual tour of MediaCorp through the live shows.

Ceremony information
Nominees for the 21st instalment of Star Awards were announced. There were five new faces nominated in the acting or hosting categories: Aloysius Pang, Ben Yeo, Carrie Wong, Julie Tan and Quan Yi Fong.
The names of the Top 20 Most Popular Male and Female Artistes contenders were revealed. Jeanette Aw and Vivian Lai were promoted to All-Time Favourite Artistes, while Dai Xiangyu, Edwin Goh, Gurmit Singh, Justin Ang, Kate Pang, Pan Lingling, Richard Low, Yvonne Lim, Zhang Zhenhuan and Zhou Ying were out of the Top 10 awards. There were 12 new or returning faces in total: Carrie Wong, Jayley Woo, Shane Pow and Youyi were nominated for the first time, while Dasmond Koh, Felicia Chin, Lin Meijiao, Marcus Chin, Priscelia Chan, Shaun Chen, Terence Cao and Thomas Ong returned to the list after their absence last year or earlier. In particular, Marcus Chin, who would go on to be a contestant of reality singing competition Ge Tai Challenge was last nominated for the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artiste award in 2009, the longest absence by any returning artiste so far. Felicia Chin, who last won the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artiste award in 2010 and switched to part-time acting to study for a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the NUS Business School, quit her studies and has since returned to acting. The telepoll lines were announced later at a public event at VivoCity, where voting for the Top 10 awards opened afterwards.
Shaun Chen walked home with three awards: Rocket Award, Best Actor and Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes. Jeanette Aw is the biggest winner of the ceremony with seven awards: Most Popular Regional Artiste Awards for Malaysia, Indonesia and Cambodia (all three countries were awarded continuously), Social Media Award, Favourite Female Character, Favourite Onscreen Couple (Drama) with Zhang Zhenhuan, and All-Time Favourite Artiste with Vivian Lai.[4] Also worth noting is that Zhang and Aw also bagged all Favourite category awards. The Joy Truck and The Journey: Tumultuous Times were the biggest winning variety and drama series, respectively. Unexpectedly, Chris Tong, Ya Hui, Dennis Chew, Desmond Tan and Zheng Geping were left out in the Top 10 awards. In their places were first-time winners Julie Tan, Carrie Wong, Ian Fang, Shane Pow and Shaun Chen; as well as Felicia Chin, Kym Ng, Paige Chua and Dasmond Koh, who neither were nominated nor won last year. In addition, with their 10th Top 10 Most Popular Male or Female Artiste wins, Qi Yuwu and Rui En will graduate to All-Time Favourite Artistes next year.

- Tokyo Bust Express Sexy Babe Award will be first given out this year. Best Newcomer award also returned this year after being absent in 2014.
Controversies
- Professional and programme awards will only be given out when there are at least 10 candidates from 2014 onwards. Even though Channel 8 News & Current Affairs already had ten news presenters by the end of 2014, only the Best Newcomer award returned, whereas the Best News Presenter award, which was suspended along with the Best Current Affairs Presenter award, unfortunately did not.
- After Jeanette Aw won the six voting-based awards in Show 1, she expressed her wish to withdraw from voting-based award categories in the future. Speaking to the media after the ceremony, Aw said that the move is due to her concern about rabid fans who left messages online saying that they would harm themselves if she did not win enough awards. However, it can be seen that voting for Star Awards 2016 Favourite Female Character for The Journey: Our Homeland and The Dream Makers II did not remove her from the voting list. Mediacorp quotes that as these awards are determined by online voting, she still had to participate in these awards.[5] She went on to win the Favourite Female Character and Favourite Onscreen Couple (Drama) with Qi Yuwu for The Dream Makers II in 2016, which was the last time the Favourite categories were held.
