St Matthew's Church is an Anglican church in Kensington, an inner eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is adjacent to Marryatville High School.

Current status

St Matthew's is closely associated with St Bartholomew's Norwood and together the two churches form the Kensington-Norwood Anglican Team Ministry. The church communities are evangelical in theological stance. The current Senior Minister is Rev David Bassett, former vicar of St James Ivanhoe, Melbourne. The churches run a range of ministries and Sunday services, including a well-established youth group.

History

Previous rectors of St Matthew's included Tim Harris, who in May 2008 became the first Dean of Bishopdale Theological College, New Zealand, and Kevin Giles, a well-known contributor to discussions about gender roles and the Trinity, including subordinationism.

The land for the church was donated in 1848 by the South Australia Company, who received it from George Brunskill. Many notable early South Australians are buried on its grounds, including:
