St. Mary's School, Sangamner was opened by the Society of Jesus in 1892, in conjunction with St. Mary's parish and its mission stations. The school is affiliated to the Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Education.

History

The Jesuits arrived in Sangamner in 1892 and at once opened a school, renting a house for teachers and boarders and using the municipal dharamsala (travellers’ rest-house) as a school.

In 1895 a ten-acre plot east of town was purchased and a building constructed. Soon after 1897 the large school hall and lodgings for masters, their families, and orphans were added. Today the school has hostels for both boys and girls.[1]

In 2015 St. Mary's had a 100% success rate for its 62 students who took the Senior Secondary School Certificate exam.[2] It is a member of the International Association of Jesuit Business Schools.[3]
