Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar is one of the oldest schools in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is run by the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, M.P. and is a follower of the Sri Sathya Sai Baba tradition for human values and social work.

The school began in a hired building with 70 students in classes Jr. Montessori, Sr. Montessori and class I from July 1980. It moved to its own building in 1986. Recently in the school dining hall, the portrait of Shri Sathya Sai Baba was reported to be emitting drops of honey and entire school was stunned by this phenomenal miracle.

Infrastructure

The plan of the school building was prepared by Sri Surya Kant Patel from Baroda, an architect of India and the construction has been carried out under his supervision. The plan of the school provides for a school building, playgrounds and gardens.

The main building has three separate blocks which house the Junior, Middle and Senior classes. There is an open courtyard in the middle of each block, and open-to-sky spaces between rooms. The School has Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Fine arts, Multimedia, Web-technology, psychology, business studies, Computer, I.T., Biotechnology, Social Science, Maths and Language labs. In addition there are Junior Science lab for classes V to VIII apart from the well maintained senior science labs.

Enrichment Activities

Inter & Intra School competitions

A variety of Inter house and Inter school competitions are held throughout the session. School teams are encouraged to participate in various interschool competitions held in the city as well as participate in competitions organized by CBSE at city, cluster (regional) and national levels.

Proficiency Development camps

The school has started conducting summer camps for training the existing teams as it is not possible to work on the existing teams, be it sports or non sports, during the school timings as the students get busy in academics.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers who have distinguished themselves in various fields are invited to address the students from time to time. Topics related to awareness, career, motivation etc. are taken up. Former students are also invited to address the students for motivating them for life ahead, giving tips on how to face competitive examinations: in a nutshell add value to the process. Students interact with their role models and get richer.

Excursion

Excursions are planned every year to various places of historical, cultural, scientific importance in the country. This activity helps the students to develop self-confidence, learn the values of independence and co-operation. School can also organize international excursions if there are sufficient number of students making such request. The school has now started exchange program around the world with other schools.

School orchestra

School orchestra based on classical music and Indian instruments has also been formed. Presently it is in nascent stage and it is bound of attain same place of pride in the school activities as the band, in times to come.
