The Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust was established in 1993 by actor, film producer, Padma Shri recipient and former Rajya Sabha member Mohan Babu.[2] The college is 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, India.

History

During the 1960s Babu inherited a love for learning from his father, Narayana Swamy Naidu, a teacher and headmaster in Chittoor district. He planned the SVET as a center of higher learning open to all, regardless of national origin, religious beliefs or social background. From a student body of 216, its enrollment has grown to nearly 10,000 students,[3] in one school and five colleges. The full-time faculty, which initially numbered 10, is currently more than 350. The SVET, the largest private institution in the Rayalaseema region, is a collaboration of the governments of India and Andhra Pradesh.
