Sooronbay Sharipovich Jeenbekov (Kyrgyz: Сооронбай Шарипович Жээнбеков, [soːrɔnˈbɑj ʃɑˈripɐvit͡ʃ d͡ʒeːnˈbɛkəf], born 16 November 1958) is the current Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan who assumed office on 13 April 2016.[1] Jeenbekov is a zoological engineer having graduated from the Kyrgyz Agricultural Institute, Skryabin and in 2003 at the Faculty of Economics of the Kyrgyz Agrarian University. He went on to become a livestock farmer and went in to politics, becoming a Deputy of the Assembly of People’s Representatives in 1995. He has been Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Processing Industry (2007), Head of the State Administration – the governor of the Osh region (2010) and Director of the State Personnel Service (2015). In March 2016 he was appointed First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic before his current appointment.[2]
