Somo is a town in Lincoln County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 121 at the 2000 census. The unincorporated communities of Clifford and Tripoli are located partially in the town.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 36.4 square miles (94.2 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 121 people, 57 households, and 38 families residing in the town. The population density was 3.3 people per square mile (1.3/km²). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 2.3 per square mile (0.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 100.00% White.

There were 57 households out of which 15.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 63.2% were married couples living together, 3.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.3% were non-families. 28.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.12 and the average family size was 2.61.

In the town the population was spread out with 16.5% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 21.5% from 25 to 44, 33.1% from 45 to 64, and 23.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 48 years. For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $22,250, and the median income for a family was $31,875. Males had a median income of $24,375 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the town was $19,374. There were 17.9% of families and 18.4% of the population living below the poverty line, including 27.3% of under eighteens and none of those over 64.
