Solairus Aviation is a full-service private aircraft management and charter company that provides clients with expertise in acquiring and operating a wide range of private aircraft.[1] The company manages 80 jets for businesses and wealthy individuals, about 1/3 of which are available for on-demand charter.[2] The aircraft are based in more than a dozen states throughout the U.S.[3] Solairus has about 400 employees in 20 states and reports 300 percent growth in revenues in the past five years. Employees are based at its headquarters in Petaluma, CA and other offices in Burlingame, CA, Denver, CO, and White Plains, N.Y.[4] Most aircraft are based on the U.S. West and East Coasts, and flight and maintenance crew members are based at each aircraft’s location. In the Spring of 2013, Solairus doubled their corporate offices in Petaluma, CA while also expanding their East Coast, US charter sales team.[5] Solairus designates an aircraft’s pilot or maintenance supervisor as one of four support team members for each client. Besides a staff member based with the aircraft, Solairus provides the client with two office-based team members and a company officer who has the authority to respond immediately to any concerns and who has the ultimate responsibility for a client’s satisfaction.[6]

History

Solairus Aviation was founded by Dan Drohan and Jake Cartwright in 2009. In May 2009, Solairus obtained FAR Part 135 certification.[7]

In August 2009, Solairus achieved Aviation Research Group/US (ARG/US) Platinum status,[8] This certification required a complete third-party audit. Solairus is one of only 71 Aviation Research Group/U.S. Platinum-rated charter operators in the world and has also received the NBAA Commercial Business Flying Safety Award in recognition of six years and more than 27,000 consecutive flying hours without accident.[9] Solairus also earned Wyvern Wingman Certification in 2013.[10] In September 2009, Solairus earned “10 or more”, seating/large cabin authority.[11]
