"Social Psychology" is the fourth episode of the first season of the American comedy television series Community. It aired in the United States on NBC on October 8, 2009.

Plot

Jeff (Joel McHale) begins to bond with Shirley (Yvette Nicole Brown) over their mutual distaste for Vaughn (Eric Christian Olsen), Britta's (Gillian Jacobs) new boyfriend, a laid back hippie. However, in an effort to show that he and Britta could be friends, Jeff tries to refrain from making fun of Vaughn, but can't help himself from sharing a poem that Vaughn had written for Britta. The incident breaks up the relationship and brings up the question of dating and intimacy within the group. Meanwhile, Annie (Alison Brie) joins Professor Duncan (John Oliver) in a psychology test that tests people's patience, which has Abed (Danny Pudi), Troy (Donald Glover) and Señor Chang (Ken Jeong) as test subjects.

At last everyone gives up except Abed. Professor Duncan scolds Annie for bringing Abed here as Abed was sitting there for straight up 26 hours. When the group is in study room Pierce thinks that all this time Jeff and Shirley were making fun of him and the other group members and when Abed said it was really boring sitting in that room for so long then Annie asks that "Why didn't you leave?" he replies that because she told him to sit there and as a friend he had to making Annie realize that this whole time Abed was just being a great friend.
