Slaven Rimac (born December 19, 1974) is a retired Croatian professional basketball player and current coach. He was a member of the Croatian National Team in 1996 Olympic Games and 1997 Eurobasket. He led the 1996-97 Euroleague in free throws shooting % (93.1%).
Rimac retired from the professional basketball in May 2012 as a member of French team EB Pau-Orthez.[1]
Coaching career
On November 14, 2013, he was named a new head coach of Cibona Zagreb, after departure of Neven Spahija.[2] He led Cibona to the ABA League championship, despite huge financial problems the club was facing.[3] As a champion of the league, Cibona had direct spot in the Euroleague, but withdrew from it in order to stabilize financially.[4] Eventually, Crvena zvezda, as third in the standings, took its spot in the Euroleague.[5]
