Sirindhorn Museum

Sirindhorn Museum (aka Sirindhorn Dinosaur Museum)[1] is a geology museum in northeast Thailand.[2]

The museum has the largest collection of dinosaur fossils in Southeast Asia. The museum is named after Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

History

This museum is the first dinosaur museum in Thailand. It was founded in 1995[1] and is located in Sahatsakhan, Kalasin.

Dinosaur fossils were found by Wijitsahatkun in 1994 at Sahatsakhan in the Kalasin province. Phu Khum Khao was the previous name of the site before the current museum was created.[2]

Location

The museum is located at 200, 11 Nonburi, Sahatsakhan, Kalasin province, 46140. The museum is approximately 28km in the north of Kalasin province. The museum is open Tuesday – Sunday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Awards

The museum won the Destinations Awards 2009, by the Bangkok Post, through an online vote.[3] 2008 and 2010, Industry travel of Thailand
