Sherwood Academy (formerly Sherwood E-ACT Academy and also formerly The Gedling School and Gedling Secondary Modern) is a secondary school with academy status located in the village of Gedling, Nottinghamshire. It teaches around 20 pupils, aged 15 to 16. In September 2014 the academy shut to years 7 8 and 9 students. Year 10 and 11 students will finish their GCSEs at the academy. By September 2016 the academy will close in its current form.[1]

The school teaches GCSEs and BTECs.

In September 2012 Gedling School was renamed "Sherwood E-ACT Academy" when E-ACT became the sponsor for the school.

In June 2014 it was announced that the academy was to close due to E-ACT being stripped of the academy by the government and the Redhill Academy Trust taking on the academy and fully closing the academy by September 2016.[2] By September 2014 only Year 10 and 11 students remain at the academy to do their GCSEs.

In April 2015, The Redhill Trust took over control of the academy and it was renamed "Sherwood Academy".

The Sherwood E-ACT Academy was sponsored by E-ACT Academy Trust September 2012 – 2015. From April 2015 the Academy is currently sponsored by Redhill Trust until 2016 when the Academy will close.
