Sherrod Small

Sherrod Small (born August 15, 1973) is a stand-up comedian and television personality. He currently co-hosts the "Race Wars" podcast with comedian Kurt Metzger.

Early life

Small was born and raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York by his mother and two sisters.^[1] He is the cousin of comedian Chris Rock and his brother Tony Rock.^[2]

Career

Sherrod worked as a doorman / bouncer at the Comedy Cellar for years, always introducing himself as Chris Rock's cousin and his famous tagline "I'm black", eventually lead to him becoming a regular at the Comedy Cellar and Comic Strip Live in Manhattan. Sherrod was a regular on VH1's The Best Week Ever and serves as a regular guest, occasional ombudsman, and stand-in host of Fox News's late-night satire program Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld. He has appeared on Tough Crowd, Premium Blend, and The Chris Rock Show. He can also be seen with John Mayer on the parody cover of Tay Zonday's "Chocolate Rain" and on the G4's International Sexy Ladies.

In 2009, Small was a guest commentator on both VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the '80s and 100 Most Shocking Music Moments.

From 2012 to 2014, Sherrod was an infrequent guest on The Opie and Anthony Show until Anthony Cumia's firing on July 3, 2014. Since then Sherrod has taken a more active role, appearing more often on the re-branded Opie Radio channel. His involvement has been met with mostly negative reactions from fans.^[3]

In 2015, Small was criticized after he physically attacked comedian Mark Normand in a comedy club. Small was provoked after Normand made fun of Small for going over his allotted time on stage.

On July 27, 2016, he and comedian Christian Finnegan debuted as co-hosts of Black and White, a comedy/talk show on A&E that explores issues of race relations in America. The show was cancelled in September 2016.
