Shenyang International School (SYIS, Chinese: 沈阳远见国际学校) was founded in 1998 and offers a North American, college-preparatory education program from a Judeo-Christian worldview from K3 (3 year old class) through 12th grade. It is part of International Schools of China (ISC) which offers academically excellent programs that meet the intellectual, physical and emotional needs of students. SYIS students are from different countries, including South Korea, United States, Japan, Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, and Taiwan. SYIS is a private international school which serves the expatriate community in Shenyang City. It offers an American curriculum and a college preparatory system of instruction.

The SYIS campus is located in Hunnan District (Dongling District), Shenyang City, China.[1]

Its former Chinese name is 沈阳国际学校 Shěn-yáng guó-jì xué-xiào.

History

SYIS Shenyang International School was founded in 1998 by the International School of China (ISC) with the main purpose of supporting foreign families in China who wanted to give their children an international education in a multi-cultural environment. The school began with only eighteen students and three foreign teachers. Currently, we have more than two hundred and fifty students from over ten different nationalities, and more than thirty foreign teachers.

After being established in Shenyang, the school moved a few times while trying to find a campus that contained the kind of facilities we needed to offer the best international education possible. We have settled in the Dongling District close to the New Hunnan District, where students enjoy the use of many modern educational conveniences, such as our large sports facilities for indoor and outdoor activities, an extensive library for scholastic research, science and technology labs, and other rooms where children can explore and perfect their handcraft abilities. SYIS is also the only school in Shenyang to offer an American curriculum from junior kindergarten through grade twelve and taught solely in English by expatriate teachers. We are happy to share a history not only of hard work, but also of love and passion for the exceptional education that we have been able to provide here in the northeast of China. [2]
