Shantou No.1 High School (formerly Huaying High School) was founded in 1904, backed by Chenghai businessman Chen Yuting. In 1925 its name changed to Nanqiang Middle School, and to Shantou No. 1 Middle School on October 24, 1949, which marks its anniversary.[1]
