Suzanne "Shannie" Duff, CM is the former Deputy Mayor of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a former Member of the House of Assembly (MHA), and served as the 12th mayor of St. John's. She also served as acting mayor of St. John's from April to June 2008.

Politics

Shannie Duff was elected to the office of Deputy Mayor for St. John's in the September 2009 municipal election.

Duff entered Municipal Politics in 1977. She has been extensively involved in volunteer activities in the community and was a founding member of many groups and organizations in St. John's including Cabot Habitat for Humanity, The Newfoundland Historic Trust, The St. John's Heritage Foundation, St. John's Clean and Beautiful and the Quidi Vidi Development Foundation.

Duff was appointed to the Order of Canada on March 29, 2003 for outstanding community Service.[1] Duff was also selected as Citizen of the Year in the 2008 reader's poll for The Scope magazine in St. John's.

Personal life

Duff was born and raised in St. John's, she is married to Frank Duff and together they have five children and five grandchildren.
