Shammal Qureshi

Shammal Qureshi (born August 9, 1982) is an entrepreneur and stylist responsible for bringing the global hairdressing brand Toni & Guy to Lahore and Islamabad. Qureshi is the Creative Director of Toni & Guy Lahore and CEO of Toni & Guy North Pakistan.[1]

Early life

Qureshi was born in Karachi, Pakistan. He went to Bay View High for his A'levels. Qureshi attended his college in Canada, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Western Ontario. He began his career working with the pharmaceutical giant Glaxo Smith Kline and later worked in Pakistan’s leading radio station, CityFM89. It was not until later in life that Qureshi decided to take a more creative route, and enrolled himself at the Toni & Guy Academy in London.[2]

Career

Coming from a background in beauty and haircare, Qureshi's entry into the world of grooming seemed almost inevitable. His mother is Karachi’s famous Peng Qureshi[3] the owner and proprietor of Peng's Hair and Beauty Clinic,a veritable Karachi institution. His father Khalid Qureshi[3] oversees the distribution of Guinot and Label.m in Pakistan, hence also being a part of the beauty industry.

Shammal Qureshi holds the rights of Master Franchisee for the North region of Pakistan, with three Toni&Guy franchise salons in Pakistan.Two are in Lahore and one in Islamabad.[4] He is the Creative Consultant and Trainer for L’Oreal Professionel in Pakistan, as well as the only distributor for Guinot Institut and Label.m products in Pakistan.

Over a period of three years, Qureshi completed his professional cut and color courses and also worked with the co-founder of Toni&Guy, Toni Mascolo, at the Toni&Guy salon at Sloane Square in London. During this time in London, he was sent by Toni for a number of management diplomas in customer service, human resources and management. Qureshi is one of the first Pakistani stylists to work backstage at London Fashion Week[5] with Toni&Guy.

In 2011, Qureshi was nominated as Best Salon Director at Toni & Guy’s International Annual Awards. He was also the youngest salon director to have ever been nominated and to have won the award. Qureshi has also been nominated as Best Stylist at Pakistan’s Lux Style Awards consecutively for three years (2011-2013).

As part of the Toni & Guy family, Qureshi goes to London twice a year for ongoing training and refresher courses, enabling him to keep up with international hair trends and sciences. In the summer of 2013, Qureshi also enrolled at the exclusive Glauca Rossi Make Up School in London and completed the 12-week intensive makeup course, joining the ranks of world-class makeup artists such as Lisa Eldridge and Charlotte Tilbury, who received their training from there. Qureshi's certifications include Certified Stylist and Colour Technician from the Toni&Guy Academy, London, and Certified Skincare Trainer from the Guinot Institut, Paris. His clientele hail from amongst the country’s leading celebrities, models, fashion icons, musicians and athletes.

Personal life

Shammal Qureshi married Redah Misbah Qureshi on January 5, 2011.,[6] daughter of Musarat Misbah, owner of Depilex - Beauty Clinic & Institute. Redah Misbah Qureshi is also a hairdresser and stylist, whilst being the Creative Director in Depilex. They have a daughter named Zoay.
