Shadow economy of North Korea

The Shadow economy of North Korea constitutes a considerable supplement to the official economy of North Korea.

Usually it is difficult to obtain reliable data about black markets anywhere. However, as a result of the North Korean famine of 1990s thousands of Koreans escaped from North to South, and through their testimonials it has become possible to analyze the mechanisms of black and grey markets in North Korea.[1][2]
