Saru Bhakta

SaruBhakta (Nepali: सरु भक्त) is the pen name of Bhakta Raj Shrestha, a celebrated Nepalese , playwright, novelist, song writer and poet[1] and a winner of Madan Puraskar, the most prestigious literary honour in Nepal. He was born to Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha and Laxmi Shrestha in Bag Bazaar, Pokhara, Nepal the day of Teej in 1956 AD. He studied in Gandaki_Boarding_School, Lamachaur. His alma mater is Tribhuvan University. He started writing around 1978.

Many consider his novel Paagal Basti, to be a classic in Nepalese literature.

He was also a member of the Royal Nepal Academy and currently he is the Chancellor of Nepal Music and Drama Academy.
