Santee Cooper Country

Santee Cooper Country is a tourism district in the south central South Carolina area surrounding the Santee Cooper Lakes, Lake Moultrie and Lake Marion, which were formed from damming the Santee River and the Cooper River . It was created by the state legislature in 1962.[1] The district was formed to create and expand tourism, recreation and development in the 5 county region, which includes the counties of Berkeley, Calhoun, Clarendon, Orangeburg and Sumter.[2]
