Sanjay Raghunathprasad Gupta (born 1963) is an Indian businessman and civil servant. He is Chairman and founder of Neesa Group of companies. Sanjay Gupta a Civil Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (Roorki), Diploma holder in Finance from Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI University) and an Indian Administrative Service[2] (IAS) officer of 1985 batch worked with Government of Gujarat for 17 years (1985 to 2002) in various departments at top level positions. Sanjay Gupta became an entrepreneur in 2005.

He also served as Vice Chairman of the All India Handicrafts Board and Chairman of Tourism and Hospitality Committee, FICCI, Gujarat State Council.

Career

Government

Sanjay Gupta joined IAS[3] at the age of 22 and started his career as Civil servant in Gujarat State.

Since then he has held top level positions in various departments of government[4] of Gujarat. He was involved in policy reforms in Gujarat Tourism, where he was the Managing Director of Tourism corporation of between 1995 and 1997.

Later, he was Managing Director of Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation between 1997 and 2002.[5] While there, he helped set up a 160MW gas-based power plant, promoted the largest distributor of internet bandwidth in Gujarat, and launched a fuel consultancy business.[6]

Private sector

He worked as Chief Executive Officer for Adani Group from 2002 to 2005.[7][8] In 2009, Gupta was appointed Chief Operating Officer of STAR India.[9] In April 2011, he was appointed as Executive chairman of the Rs 12,000-crore Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad project.[7][10]
