Samantha Elizabeth "Sam" Faiers (born 31 December 1990) is an English television personality and model. Faiers is best known for starring as herself in the ITV2 semi-reality programme The Only Way Is Essex. In 2014, she competed in the thirteenth series of Celebrity Big Brother, finishing in fifth place.

Early and personal life

Faiers was born in Brentwood, Essex, to parents Suzanne "Sue" Wells[1] and Lee Faiers.[2] She has an older sister, Billie, who also stars on The Only Way Is Essex.[3] Their parents split up when Sam and Billie were very young[4] and their mother later married David Chatwood.

In February 2014, Faiers was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.[5] It is believed that she first displayed symptoms during her time in the Celebrity Big Brother house. Whilst in the house she was admitted to hospital twice to allow medical professionals to complete tests, which continued into February once she had left the house, and subsequently culminated in her diagnosis.[5]

On 21 August 2015 it was reported that Faiers was expecting her first child with current boyfriend Paul. Faiers gave birth to their baby boy on 29 December 2015. On the 18 January, Faiers revealed she had called her son Paul Tony after his father and uncle.[6]

Career

2010–14: The Only Way Is Essex

On 10 October 2010, Faiers appeared in the first episode of The Only Way Is Essex and has starred in all eleven series of the show. Her early storylines on the show seen her involved with Mark Wright despite him being in an on/off relationship with Lauren Goodger at the time.[7] The second series of the show saw Faiers's sister Billie join the cast. During this series Faiers also began a relationship with new cast member Joey Essex, but they later split off-screen.[8] They reconciled again on screen during the fifth series[9] and got engaged during series 8.[10] However, their turbulent relationship finally came to an end again months later in the series 9.[11] In March 2014, Faiers announced that she would be taking a break from TOWIE after the end of its eleventh series, due to a lack of storylines, her recent Crohn's disease diagnosis, and to work on her relationship with Joey.[12][13]

2014: Celebrity Big Brother

In January 2014, Faiers entered the Celebrity Big Brother house to compete in the thirteenth series.[14] She entered handcuffed to fellow housemate, American starlet Jasmine Waltz, as part of a task. Whilst still in the house, it was revealed that Faiers had been meeting a journalist from OK! so that she could continue writing her weekly column for the magazine.[15] Faiers made the final on Day 27 but finished in fifth place.[16] Whilst in the house, Faiers was unwell and stated that she 'couldn't keep food down'.[5]

Other ventures

Faiers has made guest appearances on chat shows such as Loose Women, This Morning and Daybreak. She was a panellist on the fifth episode of series 8 of Shooting Stars[17] and starred on the eleventh series of The Real Hustle, going undercover as a bitter ex-wife to help the Hustlers con a mark.[18] She has also been a panellist on Celebrity Juice twice, once during the sixth series and again in the ninth series with her (then) fiancé Joey Essex. Faiers has recently launched her own online fitness website (Celebrity Training with Sam Faiers) which offers only workout videos and healthy eating recipes[19] In October, 2016, Faiers revealed she had frozen cow manure injected into her face in order to look younger.
