Sam Darnold (born June 5, 1997) is the starting quarterback for the University of Southern California Trojans. He was made a starter on September 19, 2016. He is a redshirt freshman.[1]

Early years

Darnold attended San Clemente High School in San Clemente, California. He played Quarterback. Darnold was rated by Rivals.com as a four-star recruit and was ranked as the eighth best Dual-Threat Quarterback in his class and 179th best player overall.[2] He committed to the University of Southern California (USC) to play college football.[3]

Darnold is the grandson of former Marlboro Man actor Dick Hammer.[5]
