He is also an MLA, elected from the Maniktala constituency in the West Bengal state assembly election, 2011.Previously,He Was an Congress Leader and Three Times Elected Congress MLA From Burtola.After Defeated In Lok Sabha Elections In 1998 From Calcutta North East,In July,He Left Congress and Joined Trinamool Congress.[1][2]
