SYSACCO is a Syrian-Saudi Chemical Company[2] with headquarter in Aleppo, Syria.[3] Their chemical plant with an area of 142,000 m2 is located 29 kilometers (18 mi) east of Aleppo.[4][5] SYSACCO is Syria’s only chlorine manufacturing plant.[1]

Products

They mostly produce products for water sterilization to the local market:[4][6]

History

SYSACCO during the Syrian Civil War

Sysacco was taken by rebel forces in August 2012.[1] The plant then had approximately 400 yellow steel barrels stored, each holding one ton of chlorine gas.[1] In December 2012, rebel fighters from Al-Nusra Front took over the plant.[2] The factory was not in normal operation in April 2013, but the rebel’s kept the generator running by supplying 200 liters (44 imp gal; 53 U.S. gal) of fuel a day.[1]
