SAP HANA Cloud Platform

SAP HANA Cloud Platform is a platform as a service developed by SAP SE for creating new applications or extending existing applications in a secure cloud computing environment managed by SAP. The SAP HANA Cloud Platform integrates data and business processes across cloud applications, 3rd party applications and on-premises solutions.[1][2]

Overview

SAP HANA Cloud Platform, which includes the in-memory SAP HANA database, connects to both on premises and cloud-based systems running SAP or other third-party software and relies on open standards,[3] like JAVA, JavaScript, Node.js and CloudFoundry[4] for integration options.

SAP and Apple Inc. recently partnered to develop mobile applications on iOS using cloud-based software development kits (SDKs) for the SAP HANA Cloud platform.[5][6]

The SAP HANA Cloud Platform contains many services such as collaboration, user experience, integration (which includes the use of application programming interfaces (APIs)),[7] analytic services using the SAP Business Objects Cloud,[8] the Internet of Things (IoT),[9][10] security, mobile services, business services and development services, to name a few.

History

Initially unveiled as SAP HANA Cloud on October 16, 2012[11] the SAP HANA Cloud Platform was reintroduced on May 13, 2013[12] as the foundation for SAP cloud solutions, including the SAP BusinessObjects Cloud.[13] Adoption of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform has increased steadily[14] since the platform's launch in 2012, with SAP claiming over 4000 customers and 500 partners adopting the SAP HANA Cloud Platform.[15][16]
