Ruminal tympany

Ruminal tympany is an animal disease in ruminants characterized by excessive volume of gas continually generated in the rumen due to microbial fermentation.[1] Symptoms include bloat, mouth foaming and diarrhea.[2] The disease may be triggered by foraging on a large amount of easily fermenting plants, such as alfalfa, clover, sainfoins and mixed wet green grass.[2]
