Richie Whitt

Richie Young Whitt (July 8, 1964)[1] is a former radio personality for 105.3 The Fan and former sports columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the Dallas Observer. He currently runs his own blog called the Sportatorium and blogs for the NBC Dallas Blue Star Blog.[2]

Early life

He was raised in Duncanville and graduated from Duncanville High School. After that, he attended The University of Texas at Arlington and received a bachelor's degree in journalism.[3]

Career

Whitt previously worked as a sports columnist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram from 1986 to 2004 and as a sports blogger for the Dallas Observer.[4] His blog was called "The Sportatorium", named for a sports venue that used to stand in the Dallas area. He hosted the afternoon-drive radio program R.A.G.E. (Richie And Greggo Extravaganza) with sports personality Greg "Greggo" Williams from 2:00 PM Central until 7:00 PM Central on 105.3 The Fan.

Whitt's shtick on the air was that of a grumpy curmudgeon. Frequent targets of his insults include former Dallas Cowboys coach Wade Phillips, former Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks, Tim Tebow, overweight women, devout Christians, and his radio audience.
