Rebelde (English title: Rebel Rio!^[1]) is a Brazilian telenovela produced and transmitted by Rede Record from March 21, 2011 to October 12, 2012. It is a remake of the Mexican telenovela of the same name, which in turn was inspired by the Argentine telenovela Rebelde Way.

From the series was born the pop group Rebeldes.

Synopsis

Rebelde tells the story of six young people who study in the Elite Way School. Alice (Sophia Abrahão), Pedro (Micael Borges), Roberta (Lua Blanco), Diego (Arthur Aguiar), Carla (Mel Fronckowiak) and Tomás (Chay Suede) are very different, but beyond all barriers to chase the his dream is to have a band. Besides them, the telenovela has several parallel stories, like that of other students in the Elite Way and residents of Vila Lene.

Later, the narrated events follow especially the daily lives of six teenagers, who face certain types of problems of their age, such as the discovery of first love, the self-image conflicts, the development of eating disorders, the conflictual relationship with the parents and alcoholism.

The music group Rebeldes

In parallel with the fiction, a band was created, this called Rebeldes with the six protagonists of the series: Lua Blanco (Roberta), Sophia Abrahão (Alice), Mel Fronckowiak (Carla), Arthur Aguiar (Diego), Chay Suede (Tomás) and Micael Borges (Pedro). They interpret the main themes of the series in their songs.

The band had great success, doing concerts in several Brazilian cities like São Paulo, Brasilia, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and Vitória. The Rebeldes have also been nominated for several awards such as Capricho Awards, Meus Prêmios Nick and Prêmio Jovem Brasileiro. The record audience at a concert of Rebeldes was over 80,000 people in Brasilia.
