Raphaël Sévère

Raphaël Sévère (born 15 September 1994) is a French clarinettist.[1]

Biography

Revealed to the public at the age of 12 on the radio[2] (France Musique) and nominated "Revelation Instrumental Soloist" at the Victoires de la Musique at the age of 15,[3] Raphaël Sévère received in November 2013 an international recognition winning the prestigious competition of Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York, where he earned the 1st Prize and eight special prizes.[4]

Aged 8, he took up the clarinet at the Conservatoire of Nantes. At 14, he was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris where he obtained in June 2013 the master of arts degree.

Raphaël Sévère has been invited to play as a soloist with many French orchestras (of Brittany, Picardy, Tours Central Region, Ile de France, Garde Républicaine, Auvergne, Toulouse, Cannes PACA, Nice, Lille, Mulhouse, Strasbourg), and internationally with the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra, Deutsches Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Budapest Chamber Orchestra, Württemberg Chamber Orchestra, Polish Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra of St Luke's, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta. He performed at Berlin Philharmonie, Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Le Louvre Auditorium, KKL Lucerne, Lincoln Center New York.

In the field of chamber music, he performed with Prazák quartet, Ebène quartet, Modigliani quartet, Sine Nomine quartet, Les Esprits trio, Martha Arguerich, Boris Berezovsky, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Adam Laloum, Gidon Kremer, David Grimal, Gérard Caussé, Antoine Tamestit, Gary Hoffman, Xavier Philips, François Salque.

His CDs has been rewarded by Télérama (ffff Évènement), Diapason (Gold diapason), Classic Info Disque (Revelation), Classica Repertoire (Discovery). His Brahms CD (Mirare) was rewarded the Gold diapason of the year 2015.
