Ralph Solecki

Ralph Stefan Solecki is an American archaeologist. (born October 15, 1917 in Brooklyn[1]). He is a former member of the faculty at Columbia University (1959–1988), and his best-known excavations were at the Neanderthal site at Shanidar Cave in Iraq. His publications include early works on aerial photography and photo-interpretation as well as two volumes on Shanidar (1971, 1972). He is the father of American geographer William Solecki and UNHCR official John Solecki.
