Rachel Glennerster (born October 21, 1965) is the current Executive Director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) and Lead Academic for Sierra Leone at the International Growth Centre, a research centre is based jointly at The London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Oxford.[1][2] Her current research includes randomized evaluations of community driven development in Sierra Leone, empowerment of adolescent girls in Bangladesh, and health, education, and microfinance in India.

Before joining J-PAL and the International Growth Centre, Glennerster worked as an Economic Adviser to HM Treasury, a Development Associate at the Harvard Institute for International Development, and as a Senior Economist at the International Monetary Fund. Glennerster received her B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Oxford University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Birkbeck College, University of London.[3]

Glennerster is a member of Giving What We Can, an international society for the promotion of poverty relief.[4]
