RTZ (radio station)

RTZ is the callsign of the time signal transmitted on 50 kHz with 10 kW from a large transmission centre near Irkutsk, Russia. It is situated at 52.428176 N 103.686948 E. RTZ is active 23 hours per day, from 2200 - 2100 UTC, except for the 3rd and 4th Monday of each month between 0000 - 0800 UTC, when it is switched off for maintenance. The station sends time signal information at 1 minute before and 4 minutes 55 seconds after the hour. During the 6th minute of each hour, the callsign is transmitted, while from 6m 5s after the hour until its end, the frequency may be used by the public.

RTZ covers the area in Siberia between 80 and 120 degrees east.
