Puretty (Korean: 퓨리티) was a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2012. The group debuted in August in Japan with the song "Cheki☆Love" which was used as a soundtrack for the anime titled Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future. There were also plans for the group to make their Korean debut later on.[1] On 14 January 2014, DSP Media announced that the group had been disbanded with the possibility of its members debuting into other new groups in the future.[2]

History

In January 2012, DSP Media announced that they would be debuting a new sister group to Kara and Rainbow.[3] Temporarily nicknamed as the DSP Girls, the group revealed plans to debut simultaneously in both Korea and Japan through an anime titled Pretty Rhythm: Dear My Future.[3]

Puretty held their first official performance at the Tokyo Toy Show 2012 on 15 June, promoting their debut Japanese single "Cheki☆Love".[4]

On 17 January 2014, DSP Media announced that the group had been disbanded with the possibility of its members debuting into other groups in the future.[2] Hyein went on to become an actress under Starhaus Entertainment and Jaeeun went back to school to continue her studies.[5] Somin, Chaekyung and Shiyoon participated in Kara Project, a show which aimed to find new members for girl group Kara, but non of them was selected.

Somin later redebuted in DSP Media's newest girl group, April, but then left the group, while in 2016, Chaekyung and Shiyoon participated in talent show Produce 101. But they both eliminated as 16th, and 41st respectively. Chaekyung redebuted with the group name C.I.V.A with The Music Works's Kim Sohee, and LTE's Lee Soomin. On November 11, 2016, DSP Media has introduced Chaekyung as a new additional member to April.[6]

Members

The members of Puretty included Yoo Hye-in (유혜인), Cho Shi-yoon (조시윤), Yoon Chae-kyung (윤채경), Jeon So-min (전소민), and Jeon Jae-un (전재은).[7]
