Preguiça is a settlement in the central part of the island of São Nicolau, Cape Verde. It is situated near Baía de São Jorge on the south coast, 6 km south of Ribeira Brava. Preguiça is the home to the island's airport, the Preguiça Airport.

Preguiça first built a fortress in the early 19th century known as Forte do Príncipe Real. In 1945, tens of people would build Sal Airport which was completed in 1949, they later founded a settlement known as Preguiça in the middle of the island and became settlers, it would later be called Espargos and became the island capital, some tens more a year would move to Sal Island and later from other parts of the island to expand the island's population even in the 1990s and the 2000s.

Another landmark is its lighthouse.

Its football (soccer) club is Académica da Preguiça which currently plays in the São Nicolau Island League
