Location

Porta Romana is a station of Line 3 of Milan Metro, whose inauguration took place in 1990, when the line was opened to the public. Originally the train station of Porta Romana was the southern terminus of Line 3, but when the line was extended south to San Donato Milanese in 1991, with the opening of the stations from Lodi T.I.B.B. (Milan Metro) to San Donato (Milan Metro), Porta Romana has become a transit station.

Roman Door, Porta Romana

The station is located in the extreme south of Corso di Porta Romana, in Piazza Medaglie d'Oro. According to the first projects, the station was to be called Medaglie d'Oro after the homonymous square.

The station, like all others of Line 3, is underground, and it is the first one in the southern track to be built in a single barrel, marking the exit from the city center.

The station is near famous Bocconi University.
