Pony Da Look

Pony Da Look is keyboard-based band from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The band members are Temple Bates (composer/keyboards/vocals), Amy Bowles (lyrics/vocals/keyboards), Catherine Stockhausen (keyboards/vocals), and Rob Gordon (drums). Former members include Rebecca Mendoza (drums).

This Toronto band’s unusual sound has been described as “medieval ghost pop”, “sexy robot make-out music” and “ABBA and the B-52's meets a history of organ music”, though the band members themselves prefer “four gargoyles spewing juices from our throats”.

Pony Da Look released their first self-titled album in 2001, then followed it up with The Forcefield Weakens in 2003. The two releases combined attracted attention from Canadian music major players like Polaris Music Prize winner Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy), Joel Gibb (The Hidden Cameras) and Sloan.

Sloan signed Pony Da Look to their label Murderecords in 2007 and released Shattered Dimensions in 2008. Though artistically diverse, Pony Da Look and Sloan have been fans and friends of each other for years. Rebecca Mendoza and Sloan's Chris Murphy celebrated the birth of their son Francisco in 2007.

Bowles and Bates continue to paint and exhibit regularly. Mendoza is a modern dancer and choreographer Stockhausen is a TV producer and photographer.
