Philip Havers

The Hon. Philip Havers, QC (born 16 June 1950) is an English barrister.

Education

Havers was educated at Eton College and Corpus Christi College Cambridge, where he obtained an M.A.

Life and career

Havers comes from a leading legal family - his grandfather Sir Cecil Havers was a High Court judge, his father Lord Havers, became Attorney General and then Lord Chancellor. His younger brother is the actor Nigel Havers. His paternal aunt, Lady Butler-Sloss was the first woman appointed to the Court of Appeal and was also the first woman to be President of the Family Division.

Havers has a wide-ranging practice focused, in particular, on public law, human rights law, clinical negligence, health law, environmental law, personal injury law, breach of confidence and contempt of court. He has appeared in many leading cases in these fields. He is also an accredited mediator.
