Peter Hallam Bush is an Australian company director and businessman who is currently chairman of Southern Cross Austereo[1] and Pacific Brands.[2] In Australian corporate and sporting circles he Is considered to be an "expert in crisis management".[3] Until early 2013 he was chairman of Nine Entertainment Co.[4] and is a former managing director of McDonald's Australia Limited[5] and a former director of Lion Nathan.[6]

Early life & family

Bush is the son of a Methodist minister and media personality, the Reverend Roger Bush OBE, and was born in Bulli, New South Wales.[7] He was educated at Newington College (1964-1970)[8] and Macquarie University. He married Adrienne Chartres on 17 August 1981 and is the father of a daughter and son.

Business career

He has been Chairman and CEO of Schwarzkopf Australasia[9] and has held senior marketing positions with AGB McNair, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson and Arnott's. At Arnott's, Bush was the head of marketing during 1997 when an extortionist claimed to have poisoned biscuits. He was responsible for an extensive advertising campaign that ensured the company recovered any lost market share. He was Managing Director of McDonald's Australia Limited from 2005 until retiring in 2010 due to ill health. In December 2011 he was appointed chairman of Nine Entertainment Co.[10]

Sporting

Bush is a past Commodore of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and headed the inquiry into the storm ravaged 1998 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.[11]
