Notes on the tracks

The two opening songs are among the many garage rock records that could have been national hits ; the former was pulled from the market because of the supposed drug references in the lyrics, while the latter suffers from less than optimal production. A retrospective album of Sonny Flaharty and the Mark V recordings from 1963 to 1967 was released on Dionysus Records in 2000, showing a slightly different spelling than is given on this album. Several rare cover songs are included in this volume, including a version of Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" by the Canadian band Three To One. Dozens of versions exist of two of the songs, Bo Diddley's "I'm a Man" and Billy Roberts' "Hey Joe". The artist on the latter song, The Golden Cups, is among a small number of Japanese bands that have tracks represented in the Pebbles series. The closing track appears to have been recorded in a make-your-own-record booth by a teenage girl and her friends "under the influence".
