Parul University

Parul University is a private university in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. It was established in 2009 as the Parul Group of Institutes, and was given university status in 2015.[1]

Controversy

Jayesh Patel, the founder and the then Managing Director of the University was accused of raping a 22-year-old nursing student at the University on 18 June 2016. The female rector of the girls hostel, Bhavana Patel, was arrested and charged with helping to facilitate the crime. Following the accusations, Jayesh Patel absconded.[5] He was apprehended on 21 June by Vadodara police and arrested.[6]
