Pakistan Islamia Secondary School Sharjah is a Pakistani school in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

History

Pakistan Islamia Higher Secondary School, Sharjah (previously known as Pakistan Muslim High School) was established by Mahmood Akhtar Kiyani in September, 1974, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammed Al-Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah. Classes began with 150 students at the Old Al-Qasimiah Camp. The original Board of Governors was under the chairmanship of Dr. Ghulam Hussain Jaffer, while Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi served as secretary to the Board. The school was founded on 23rd March 1974.

Roots

For school premises, Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al-Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah, was approached. His Highness allowed use the old control tower building on a temporary basis. Akhter Mehmood Kyani, who had been working as Principal of Pakistan School Dubai for more than six years but had left the job due to some differences with the school administration and was working in a firm, accepted the job of principal. Muhammad Akram Janjooa was Vice Principal and Tariq Masih was the math teacher.

Admissions started and within three months 250 students were enrolled. One day the ruler of Sharjah visited the school and promised to provide a plot of land to build a proper school building. Due to the school's reputation for discipline, it was also selected as a center for matriculation examinations by the Pakistan Embassy where students from all over U.A.E. appeared for the exams, managed and supervised by an official of the consulate general of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi.

Control of school administration was then handed to a new board formed by the Consul General of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi. The chairman of the board was a personality of Sharjah, Abdul Rahman Bukhatir.

The present principal of the institution is Col. Retired Anjum Naseer. Vice Principal of the girls' wing is Mrs. Parveen Qazi and that of the boys' side is Azam Ayub.

It is divided into two parts - boys' and girls'. There are two canteens - one for girls and one for boys, and a book shop. There is a uniform shop as well.
