History

PSG College of Arts and Science was started in 1947 by the PSG and Sons Charities which was founded in 1926 by the four sons of P.S. Govindasamy Naidu. The college was affiliated to Madras University till 1978. The college became autonomous and affiliated to Bharathiar University since 1978. In 2003, it became an ISO 9001: 2000 certified institution.[1][2]

Association activity: Mathemagic 2001 organised by the Mathematics Association has activities for two days

Courses

The institute offers 38 under graduate courses and 27 post graduate courses apart from doctorate programs in eighteen faculties.[3][4]

Campus life

Wizards and Heartbeat are the annual inter departmental cultural competitions and Cascall and Euphoria are the annual college cultural competitions. The Department of Computer Science organises a state-level inter-collegiate technical festival, "Gateway". The events are primarily tests of computer technologies and have design-oriented events such as web design. Phoenix and LitZeal are the annual inter college literary fests. Mathematics Association, Physics Association and Chemistry Association organize subject-related competitions. Other clubs include entrepreneurs Club, Drama club, Eco Club, Face Club, Citizen Consumer Club and Nilamutram.[5]
