P739

P739 from September 2012

P739 is the reference number of a standard form used by the UK Royal Mail.

It notifies the recipient of a mail item that could not be delivered.


Uses

The P739 is used if one of the following occurs:

Once a P739 has been delivered, the recipient can either call their local delivery office to have the item redelivered the next day or may take the card and ID to the delivery office for collection. Recent changes mean that the recipient can also request the item to be left in a 'safeplace' such as a garden shed or left with a neighbour. Safeplace instructions must be printed on the item before it's posted: so the addressees instructions have to be captured by the sender and printed on the item. It can currently only be used with certain services.
